TAM

Total Addressable Market

The total annual revenue available if every possible buyer of your kind of product bought it from you. A ceiling, not a forecast.

EXAMPLE

If there are 100,000 travel agencies worldwide who would pay ₹12,000 a year for itinerary software, the TAM is ₹1.2 billion.

WHY IT MATTERS

It answers whether a market is large enough to be worth entering. It's also the number most often inflated in pitch decks, so treat any TAM — including your own — as a rough order of magnitude.
