SaaS

Software as a Service

Software you access over the internet and pay for on a recurring basis, rather than buying once and installing. The provider runs the servers, ships updates, and holds the data.

EXAMPLE

Your email, your accounting tool, and your project tracker are almost certainly SaaS. You pay monthly and never install a server.

WHY IT MATTERS

The model changes what matters in the business: keeping a customer becomes as important as winning one, because revenue arrives monthly rather than once.
